Suncoast Woodcrafters Guild recently elected a new board (from left): Peter Bogardus – past president, Ken Walker – director, Tim Dayton – secretary, Ron Johnson – president, Dan Horner – vice president, Ken Karaloff – director, Heinz Tigges – director, Tom Hourigan – director, and Chuck Lenfesty – treasurer.
The Woodcrafters promote the craft of woodworking as a hobby, sharing ideas, techniques and the mutual enjoyment of creating with wood.
Guild members participate in an annual tradition with the Christmas spirit, building and donating special handcrafted wooden toys and gifts to Sunshine Coast Community Services Society for distribution to disadvantaged children and families. A generous grant from Sunshine Coast Regional District, big-hearted donations from Lehigh Materials and Sunshine Coast Community Forest, plus a portion of Woodcrafters’ membership dues, make it possible to purchase materials to build these toys and gifts.
The Woodcrafters participate in and support community events such as the Botanical Garden’s Harvest Festival and Community Forest Wood Expo.
The Woodcrafters meet the third Tuesday of the month (except July and August) at 7 p.m. at Chatelech Secondary School in Sechelt. New members are welcome.
