"Play Me a Rock 'n' Roll Song" -Valdy is coming back to Sechelt.
Recent recipient of the Order of Canada and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal, Valdy tours dozens of countries performing hundreds of concerts each year with hits from 18 albums, including four gold records sold worldwide.
Valdy has two Juno awards (country male vocalist and folksinger) and seven Juno nominations.
His latest CD, Read Between the Lines (2012), reveals the Saltspring Island artist's long-standing respect for the land, as well as his passion for environmental stewardship, world peace, the abolition of poverty and hunger, and literacy.
Read Between the Lines blends elements of jugband and rock 'n' roll with folk. The CD is spiced up with guest jazz vocalist Maureen Washington and classical bassoon and trumpet players.
Valdy will perform at the Rockwood Pavilion next Saturday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25, available at Grafix Printing and Design, MELOmania, Gaia's Fair Trade and Strait Music.
