While in Canada for their third appearance at the International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, the Christ the King Church Choir from Uganda will make a special appearance in Pender Harbour at the Pender Harbour Music School Sunday, July 4, at 2 p.m.

Since 1936, the choir has been singing and leading the faithful during the Mass every Sunday, as well as performing at weddings and baptisms, Thanksgiving and requiem masses, ecumenical services and state functions. At Easter and Christmas, performances based on works by local and international composers are presented. Their director, Patrick F. Mberenge, joined Christ the King Church Choir as a bass singer in 1976. His unique talent in singing as well as teaching the choir classical music earned him the position of music director in 1985. He continues to instruct and conduct the choir in a wide range of classical church music originating within Uganda and abroad. Through his dedication to quality singing, Mberenge over the years has become a source of inspiration to music directors of other choirs of Christ the King parish as well as other churches.

Concert tickets are $10, available at Harbour Insurance in Madeira Park and Talewind Books in Sechelt. For more information, call 604-883-2403.
