The Sunshine Coast Arts Council is pleased to host two exhibitors at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre gallery this month.

Long-time Coast resident, award-winning artist Bodhi Drope, exhibits works cast in gel coat, wooden sculptures and digitally enhanced photographs. Visiting from Saturna Island, photographer Nancy Angermeyer will show her layered multiple negative photographs that she over-paints in oils. The exhibitions run from June 14 to July 16.

Insights from the Interface is the title for the body of work Drope displays. Rhythm is the shared focus of these sculptures, reliefs and digital prints. The moment of the rhythm, just before it is erased and rewritten, is what Drope captures. It was during Drope's teen years on the prairies that he first became aware of the rhythms created by natural forces. His early observations of blustering winds, shifting snow, cloud formations, wood grain, rock patterns and sandy shorelines continue to impact his artistic investigations as expressed in these current works. The work in Angermeyer's Photographic Dialogue is the synthesis of her passions for black and white photography, painting and the human form. Each piece is a detailed study of the contemporary figure interlaced with nature, architecture and classical figurative images. The focus of these multi-layered images is on light and design, textural details, colour palette and the narrative. The work also shows her interest in capturing the essence of emotion, gesture, touch and pathos. Her process of fusing these elements results in provocative and lyrical images.

Everyone is welcome to the artists' reception, 7 to 9 p.m., June 14, at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre Gallery.
