Gibsons United Church is presenting fantasy theatre in a hilarious, upbeat comedy by John Patrick.

Everybody Loves Opal runs from April 23 to 24 and May 7 to 8 with shows at 7:30 p.m. at the Gibsons United Church Hall on Trueman Road.

Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at Coast Books, Talewind Books, and the Gibsons United Church Thrift Shop on Fridays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. or call Samantha Mills at 604-886-2034 or Donna Forsyth at 604-886-4542.

The show is centered around Opal Kronkie, a middle-aged, eccentric bag lady who lives in a rundown mansion at the edge of the town dump and collects anything that isn't nailed down and totes it home in her little red wagon.

Kronkie is a hopeless optimist for no matter how mean her lot - or her friends - she responds with unfailing kindness and an unshakable faith in the goodness of human nature.

Come and see what happens to her when she invites three on-the-lam con artists into her home at the dump and they decide to include her in some unsavoury plans.

The cast includes Berni Garrison as Opal; Terri Scallon as Gloria Gulock; Robert Harrison as Bradford Winter; Robert Twiss and Solomon Bozo; Rory MacAskill as the doctor and Ian McInnes as the officer.
