Driftwood Theatre School kicks off its fall registration with a free how-to-audition session for the general public and students interested in auditioning for upcoming theatrical productions.

"After three years teaching the fundamentals of drama, we're expanding performance opportunities with an all-new slate of classes: a teen performance troupe, musical theatre, junior advanced drama, an adult directing workshop in October and a full-scale production in the spring," said registrar Sandi McGinnis.

The free how-to-audition session (what to expect and how to prepare for a theatrical audition) and fall class registration starts at noon on Saturday, Sept. 7, at St. Bart's Hall in Gibsons.

The teen performance troupe (ages 12 to 17) works with theatre exercises, monologues, scene study, ensemble work and stage craft to create a performance-ready cast. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Bart's Hall. Musical theatre (ages nine to 12) incorporates popular musicals to develop a strong vocal and physical impact.

Junior advanced drama: taking it to the next level (ages 10 to 12) will also include a musical theatre component to prepare students for a Driftwood musical production in the spring. Anyone interested in directing can check out So You Want to Direct a Play: The ABC's of directing with Bob Hunt and Ingrid Bilton on Oct. 5, 6 and 12.
