The word “legend” is bandied about so often that it’s hard to take it seriously anymore — except when it comes to Bob Evans.
As a seasoned performer of more than 40 years and an award-winning musician whose concerts and recordings build musical bridges that link diverse works by the Beatles, Chet Atkins and Blind Boy Fuller’s ragtime classics, Evans is in a league of his own.
In 2012, he won the Contemporary Division of the International Home of Legends Thumbpicking Competition and previously won the U.S. National Finger Style Guitar Cham-pionships. His eclectic mix of contemporary finger style guitar, traditional roots music, warm vocals and welcoming stage presence attracts a broad audience who come for a chance to savour the past, present and future of a uniquely North American musical form.
Come see Evans in concert presented by the Pender Harbour Music Society on Saturday, March 21 at the School of Music in Madeira Park at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $25, from Harbour Insurance, John Henry’s Marina, the Sechelt Visitors Centre, and Gaia’s Fair Trade in Gibsons.
