Local author Sheila Cameron will be reading at the Gibsons Library on Saturday, March 18 from 2 to 3 p.m. and will include readings from her new book, Shine Bright: Live A Supernova Life. Join Cameron for some lively discussion around societal trends and expectations, bucking the norm, living out loud and being yourself. Her book questions the status quo on such themes as environment, parenting, diet and community. It’s a heartwarming collection of stories. Little Legion
Roberts Creek Legion will be rocking on Saturday, March 18 as powerhouse shredders Modern Terror bring their high-octane show back to home field for the first time in 2017. The Blackfish Pub in Gibsons features live music with Knotty Buoys, Roger Potter and Darren Cassidy at 7 p.m. and the Grasshopper in Madeira Park also celebrates with ZonoLite’s live music at 8.

One Flower One Leaf Gallery is a new venture from the WOW Gallery people who feature local artists and artisans. They will hold an Open House this Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19 from 10 to 5 at their new location at 436 Marine Drive, Gibsons Landing (the former Landing Gallery).
Japanese/Korean Film
The Sunshine Coast Film Society presents The Handmaiden on Monday, March 20. In Japanese-occupied Korea of the 1930s, a new girl is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress who lives a secluded life with her domineering uncle. But the maid has a secret. Cornelia’s Book
Cornelia van Berkel has just published a small softcover book, only 14 pages, and it combines some of her paintings with her photographs, all about wildlife and nature. The title is: “When will we look at nature and wildlife in all its glory and let it be?” She writes that it is a reminder for us all to pay attention, to treasure and protect all the beauty that surrounds us. At this time it is available for $20 at the gift shop in the Gibsons Public Art Gallery, also when Cornelia shows her work at the Sechelt Farmers and Artisans Market. Writers’ Workshop
The Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Arts will host a workshop for writers on Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Rockwood Lodge in Sechelt. Workshop facilitator Trena White of Page Two Strategies will cover Writing a Killer Query Letter and Agent Tips and Tricks. Query letters are required to get the attention of agents and publishers. This hands-on workshop will tell you everything you need to know about finding and working with a literary agent. If you have a draft query letter for feedback, email it to [email protected] by March 25. She will incorporate an anonymous version into her slides and invite comment.
