Music in the Landing presents a special event on Sunday, Aug. 7, in Wine-garden Waterfront Park.
Toeac, two young women from Holland, form a captivating duo that will perform a program ranging from Bach to Piazzolla, plus new works with an exciting theatrical edge.
Toeac consists of Renée Bekkers and Piet-ernel Berkers. Both women obtained bachelor degrees cum laude at the Fontys Academy of Music (Nether-lands) and are currently studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with Geir Draugs-voll and James Crabb.
Pieternel and Renée believe that the accordion is an instrument not just for today, but also for the future, and they frequently co-operate with composers to create innovative new material and expand the instrument's repertoire.
They have played concerts and performed in festivals in Indonesia, South Africa, China, Canada, England, Germany, France, Belgium, Czech Republic, Turkey, the Netherlands and now in Gibsons Landing.
This world class duo has been made available to the Music in the Landing Seriesthrough collaboration with MusicFest Vancouver and the sponsorship of Windsor Plywood.
The classical guitar father and sons, Pin-sonnault Trio, will open the show at noon with Toeac performing from 1 to 2 p.m. The concert is free, with donations gratefully appreciated.
