The third of four concerts in the Sounds for Summer concert series is set for tomorrow (Aug. 6) at 8 p.m. at the Living Faith Lutheran Church in Davis Bay.

Wendy Humphreys is the featured performer.

Originally a harpist with the Vancouver and Edmonton Symphony Orchestras, she went on to have a singing career performing opera, oratorio, solo recitals and chamber music across Canada, after winning the Metropolitan Opera Auditions for Western Canada.

She can be heard on several CDs from the Opening Day and Centredisk labels, including the Juno Award winning Chimera with the Orford String Quartet and Judy Loman.

Julie Rutter studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Her performance highlights in England included flute soloist in Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 and collaborations with cellist Stephen Isserlis.

As a member of Gemini, Rutter recently toured in California and appeared as soloist with the Victoria and Edmonton Symphony Orchestras. Gemini is frequently heard on CBC and their Dances for Duo CD was nominated in 1999 for best classical album by the West Coast Music Awards. Their program will feature Celtic and Canadian folk songs in various combinations of voice, Celtic harp, flutes, piano and penny whistles, including arrangements by R. Vaughan Williams, Peter Tiefenbach and Alan Stivell. Tickets for $12 are available at Talewind Books, Coast Books and at the door. Call 604-885-0625 for details.
