When Marcus Mosely, Will Sanders and Ron Small went into the studio to do background vocals for blues legend Jim Byrnes, the gospel trio took on an identity of its own. The Sojourners have developed a significant following as a result of that recording and their ensuing public performances. They are now a formidable act on their own and in 2011 new member Khari McClelland came on board, adding a youthful new talent to the group.

They have contributed to the recordings and live performances of a diverse range of artists, spanning several genres, from the outer reaches of jazz to beat box and street poetry. They may be billed as "seriously spiritual gospel" but don't let that mislead. This is gospel music that can take a punch and remain standing. Singing praise music with their own special 'stank', the Vancouver based Sojourners sound just as at home in a road house bar as they do in a revival tent.

The Sojourners have been nominated for a Canadian Music Award (Vocal Group of the Year) and a MapleBlues Award (New Artist/Group) and were nominated and performed at the 2011 Juno Award (Blues Album of the Year). They took home the 2011 Western Canadian Music Award for Contemporary Gospel Recording.

Come hear The Sojourners bring soul, spirit and gospel sound to the Pender Harbour Music Society stage. Seating is limited; tickets are at Harbour Insurance in Madeira Park, John Henry's Marina in Garden Bay, Sechelt?Visitors Information Centre and?Gaia's Fair Trade in Gibsons Landing.
