A very special 10th annual Chatelech Scholarship Showcase is planned for Thursday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at the Chatelech Secondary Theatre.

Strong, energetic performances will be presented by students in the artistic disciplines, including dancers, singers, instrumentalists, bands, actors, video artists and the Chat Jazz Combo under the baton of Karen Tigert. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Showcase, a new montage of student fine art pieces will be featured as well as a Chat fashion show.

"I'm always blown away by what these kids can do - and the community feels the same way," said Chat principal Jim McGowan. "I stand in the lobby after the show and listen to all the audience's comments on just how talented and skilled these young performers are."

The popular annual event raises money for performing and fine arts scholarships. Support from the community is strong and last year $3,000 in scholarships was granted. People interested in making donations and receiving tax deductible receipts can contact Janet Powell via email: [email protected].

Every year the Showcase plays to a sellout crowd. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors. Tickets are available at Talewind Books, Wilson Creek Shell and Roberts Creek General Store.
