The Rogue Arts Festival of music and art opens this Friday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. until the last act at 9:30, at a different location from last year – it’s now at the Clarke Farms on Tyson Road in Wilson Creek. The three-day, outdoor festival with non-stop music, an art gallery, workshops, interactive installations, food, human foosball and libations runs on Saturday as well from 11 a.m. through to the last act at 9:30 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Check out the schedule on www.roguefest.ca for such favourite groups as Butler in the Hey, the Burying Ground and Queer as Funk.

The Argentine Passions Tour is this Friday, Aug. 25, with singer Maria Volonte and Kevin Footer at 8 p.m. at the Heritage Playhouse, Gibsons.
Harry Manx and the Emily Carr String Quartet take over the Rockwood Pavilion in Sechelt on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. Tickets for $40 are online at www.dogmycatrecords.ca or check your local ticket outlets.

Join Playback for a late summer dance with all your favourite hits. This popular band is at the Madeira Park Legion on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 8 p.m. to midnight. C’mon!
Last two weekends
There are only two weekends left for Music in the Landing, the summer music series in Gibsons presented by the Town of Gibsons. Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. take a stroll to the Gibsons wharf to see the jazz duo of Karen Graves, vocals, sax and flute, with Budge Schachte on guitar. Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. another duo of Paul Steenhuis, guitar, and Verna Chan, vocals, will entertain with blues, R&B and pop standards, then next to Leo’s hear Randeesh as he brings a Caribbean feel to reggae, calypso, Belizean folk and standards. On Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. as the sun sets earlier, bring your picnic blankets, lawn chairs and something warm to hear the sweet sounds of Anagram with Anna Lumiere, keys, Graham Ord, sax and flute, and John Rule on drums. For something special on Sunday next to the Sunday Market from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., welcome Little Prince, a duo on tour from Australia, playing fiddle, synth and drums. Music in the Landing’s last weekend is Sept. 1 to 3.
Slow Sundays
The summer Sunday weekly event in downtown Roberts Creek with entertainment by donation offers open mike from noon to 2 p.m. This Sunday at 1:15 p.m., Dale Stavroff brings the acoustic blues, and at 2 p.m. the Knotty Daughters Marimba Band plays. Sechelt Music
On Saturday, Aug. 26 the Sechelt Summer Music series offers two free concerts at noon and 1 p.m. This week it’s the Jazz Group of Seven followed by the Wanda Nowicki Q’tet from noon to 2 p.m. It’s free at the Sechelt Library Lawn Stage.
Artists wanted
