Rockin' blues in the Creek

It's time to coax the sun out of hibernation with some blistering blues from B.C.'s own David Gogo. Gogo will be at the Roberts Creek Hall on Saturday, Feb.

It's time to coax the sun out of hibernation with some blistering blues from B.C.'s own David Gogo. Gogo will be at the Roberts Creek Hall on Saturday, Feb. 28, in a fund-raiser for the Choralations Children's Choir to help them attend the Choir Olympics to be held in Germany in July 2004. Doors open at 8:30, dance starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $18 and available at Roberts Creek Health Food Store, WindSong Gallery and Coast Books. Sorry, no minors.

Gogo is back on the West Coast after an energetic tour in Ontario and Quebec where he starred with Johnny Winter and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. While in Ontario, Gogo received news of a Juno nomination for his new release Live at Deer Lake. This follows nominations for five Maple Blues Awards, including guitarist, entertainer and songwriter of the year. In January, 2003, Gogo was named Guitarist of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards in Toronto.

Music, especially the blues, must be in Gogo's blood, because this Nanaimo-born performer has been playing guitar since he was five years old. At 16 he was already working as a professional musician. He's toured the world with the likes of B.B. King, Otis Rush, Colin James and Little Feat. He's won awards, been featured on radio and television and is scheduled to perform at the Juno Awards in Edmonton in April.

This concert is brought to you by the Live Music Society, non-profit, volunteer-run and dedicated to bringing all types of music to the Sunshine Coast.
