The Green Film Series will be showing their final film for this season Revenge of the Electric Car" on two nights this Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 24.
Local electric car enthusiasts will have their cars on display in the parking lot before the film at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse.
In response to sold-out showings, the series producers, the Gibsons Green Team and Sustainable Coast Magazine, have scheduled two showings of what should be a very popular event. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with locally converted vehicles and commercial cars such as the Tesla coupe on display. An electric bicycle is also expected. A panel discussion following the film will include local electric car owners, representatives from the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association and mechanics and engineers who have worked on electric cars.
Chris Paine, the director of Who Killed the Electric Car, now takes his film crew behind the closed doors of Nissan, GM, and the Silicon Valley start-up Tesla Motors to chronicle the story of the global resurgence of electric cars. With major carmakers now jumping to produce new electric models, Revenge follows the race to be the first, the best, and to win the hearts and minds of the public around the world. Tim Robbins narrates revenge of the Electric Car. The primary cast includes CEO and President of Renault and Nissan Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Tesla Motors Elon Musk, Former Vice Chairman of GM Bob Lutz and EV do-it-yourselfer Greg "Gadget" Abbott.
Cost of the film showing is $5 plus an additional $3 if you are not a member of the SC Film Society. Reservations or early arrivals are encouraged. A reservations form has been set up on-line at greenfilms.ca.
