The Sunshine Coast Quilters Guild begins the 2006/2007 program on Sept. 30 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Sechelt with a slide show of quilts. Doors open at 9 a.m. for registration and browsing the extensive guild library.

The Sunshine Coast Quilters Guild begins the 2006/2007 program on Sept. 30 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Sechelt with a slide show of quilts. Doors open at 9 a.m. for registration and browsing the extensive guild library. Program begins at 11 following the business meeting and show and tell. Visitor's fee is $6 per meeting. Quilters of all levels are welcome at this year's new meeting place; new members especially welcome.

Annual membership fee is $25. This includes guild library borrowing privileges and reduced fees for guild sponsored events and participation in an annual event Hands Across the Water, this year being hosted by the Timberlane Quilt Guild in Powell River on Oct. 21.

Coast quilter Pat Crucil received a judges choice award for her piece Grid No. three, which was shown in the CQA/ACC National Juried Show and the Canadian Trend Tex Challenge quilts from Quilt Canada 2006 held in May. Two other local quilters, Sybil Seel and Carol Bowie, participated in the Trend Tex Challenge. There will be a slide show of these quilts.The afternoon will have three two-hour mini-workshops: three-dimensional flowers and leaves taught by Jill Sullivan; Fat Quarters Pin taught by Jan Cox; crazy quilt sewing circle.

The next meeting on Nov. 25 will feature guest speaker Patti Carey of Northcott Silk, the only Canadian fabric design company. Carey will also teach a workshop on the lone star on Nov. 26. Registration for the lone star class will be at the September meeting; the fee is $50 for guild members and $60 for non-guild members.Further information can be found at www.user.dccnet.com/scquilts.
