Ticket sales for the sixth annual presentation of The Nutcracker presented by Coasting Along Theatre will begin this Saturday, Nov. 18. The Nutcracker, a beloved story of a little girl and her toy who pay a dreamy visit to a sparkling land of sugar plums, will once again be presented at the Raven’s Cry Theatre in Sechelt.
There are six performances: opening night is on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m., and Nutcracker continues on Sunday, Dec. 17, and Monday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, Dec. 19 for the final show at 2 p.m.
The Nutcracker box office is at Gourmet Girl at Pier 17, Davis Bay. Hours are Monday to Friday 12 to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All tickets are reserved seats. You can also call 604-989-6050 and place your order over the phone. You will be helped to pick the date and seats of your choice. They accept major credit cards, debit cards, cheque or cash and will pop the tickets in the mail.
Tickets are $29 for adults, $19 for children 10 and under. This year they are also offering a senior matinee special for $25 for the Monday and Tuesday 2 p.m. performances.
School is still in session during our Nutcracker run, so Coasting Along Theatre Society will do outreach this year, sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Credit Union. Five hundred school children from the elementary schools on the Coast will attend two performances this year and will see a full presentation of the ballet. Teachers have been provided with study guides so that students will learn about the ballet, not just the story and dancers, but also about set design, costume design, make-up, shoes, special effects – everything required to make this ballet spectacular. See www.coastingalongtheatre.org for details.
