Artist Motoko's new work will be on display and available for sale from July 15 to 29, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.(closed Mondays) with an opening reception on Sunday, July 15, from 2 to 5 p.m. at her studio at 4590 Sinclair Bay Rd. in Garden Bay.
The exhibition will feature all new original art, including many small original Encaustic paintings thatutilize the ancient art form of combining beeswax and damar resin. Fluidity, translucence, warmth and luminosity are qualities to look for in her work.
Musical weekend
Music in the Landing is looking forward to another sunny weekend.
Kicking off tonight (Friday), from 7 to 8 p.m. in the gazebo on the wharf in Gibsons will be the Billy Hillpicker Band - great harmonies, banjos,guitars and a whole lot of fun.
Pioneer Square on Saturday will host two shows, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Steve Hanneman and Bruce Brown's rock and blues to get you going, andfrom 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Kevin Crofton and Friends will entertain.
On Saturday evening in Winegarden Park, bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets andlisten toa jazz double bill starting with Karen Graves, sax, flute and vocals, joined by well known jazz guitarist Budge Schachte at 7 p.m.
The Jazz Group of Seven, a big hit at this year's Gibsons Jazz Festival, will follow at 8 p.m.
On Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.at the Sundial Stage, next to the Gibsons Market,come out and enjoy the new sounds of Sostenutowith Anna Lumiere and Serena Eades on accordions and violin.
Find out more about these local favourites' tour ofthe Gulf Islandson bicycle, a unique way for musicians to travel and stay in shape. Eades will also host a few of her violin students as special guests.
Kleindale story
Author Ray Phillips will bring his book The Little Green Valley: The Story of Kleindale's Pioneering Families, to Woods Showcase in Sunnycrest Mall this Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Have your copy signed and chat with the author about your local history recollections.

GPAG
Gibsons Public Art Gallery is showing In Praise of Trees, acrylics by Carol Whittaker in the main gallery, and Roberta Mauel's water colours in the Eve Smart room until July 16 only. Thanks to gallery volunteers, the Bag o' Books Sale raised $700for GPAG. The Sunshine Coast Credit Union supported the purchase and printing of the cotton eco-bags.
Family concert
The Jaffa Road family concert, a 2010 Juno nominated, world music band, draws from Hebrew, Islamic, Jewish, Spanish poetry, electrifying improvisations, belly dance rhythms, pulsing dub grooves, classical and modern jazz. They will be at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt on Tuesday, July 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets are at Gaia's Fair Trade, Sechelt Visitor Centre and Kalijo Pilates.
Sabiston photos
For the month of July, One-O-One on Cowrie Street is displaying photographs by Linda Sabiston.
Her main subjects are the varied scenery of our Coast and wildlife. She has placed examples of her work in various public spaces on the Coast recently, including some very large format scenes gracing the waiting area of the new medical clinic in Gibsons. For this show, Sabiston has provided medium-format images and a selection of smaller studies, all printed on canvas.
Harbour Gallery
The Harbour Gallery is now open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.with new paintings, mosaics, stained glass and photography.Food Bank fundraising cards are still available.The gallery is located in Madeira Park next to the School of Music.

Creek Daze organizers are selling hearts at the farmers' market every Sunday until the big day, Aug. 18. Sponsor an artist to paint a heart for the Creek or paint it yourself. Finished paintings can be dropped off at Roberts Creek Health Food Store.
