The Gibsons Landing Heritage Society is pleased to announce that the winner of their recent logo contest is Scott Mercer of SMYL Concepts web design. The Heritage Playhouse name was chosen through a contest and the GLHS decided once again to involve the community by holding another contest for a logo.

They are very excited by the results and offer a big thank you to everyone who submitted.

It was not an easy decision, given the great designs that came in.

The timing is perfect for a fresh new look as the Playhouse moves into a new decade with its 11th annual fundraiser, Show-case of Performing Arts 2012 (SOPA).

This year's SOPA has a well-rounded, diverse and powerful lineup.

The Gala Night kicks off the run on July 5 with a wonderful variety of entertainment - DSdanse, Gerardo Avila, SASSPenders choristers, pianist Nir Blu and Driftwood Players. SOPA's lineup this year boasts DSdanse and Dance Works in an Evening of Dance; Kunda African Culture and Dance presenting three workshops and an evening performance; the return of Vitaly Beckman - Sensation of Magic; Driftwood Players performing two Woody Allen one-act plays; legendary Pied Pumkin returns to perform twice with a Pumkids concert for children and an evening concert for adults; The Trad Band shows off its talented young musicians; Gerardo Avila brings us laughter with From the Ridiculous to the Sublime and Jaron Freeman-Fox (Oliver Schroer's apprentice) visits the Coast on his tour and brings with him The Opposite of Everything.

As a non-profit facility intended for the community to enjoy, the Heritage Playhouse relies on rentals and donations to pay the bills. SOPA was started to help raise funds to make improvements that benefit everyone and to supplement grants received. This year all SOPA profit is earmarked to start the fund to construct a new sign, sporting the new logo with changeable lettering to feature upcoming events that will raise the visibility of the Heritage Playhouse and all events that take place there.

See www.heritageplayhouse.com for more information about SOPA events. Tickets are available at Gaia's Fair Trade, Laedeli and Sechelt Visitor Centre.
