In partnership with the province of B.C., 2010 Legacies Now is contributing $3,748 to the Pender Harbour Music Society through its catalyst program as part of its commitment to strengthen the arts and cultural sector in B.C.

Funding will be used to develop a strategic plan for the Society's Pender Harbour Chamber Music Festival, including revitalizing its mission, vision and objectives.

"The catalyst program supports organizations in their business and artistic development," said Lori Baxter, director of arts for 2010Legacies Now said in a news release, "We are pleased that contributions from this round of funding will be used for long-term strategic planning and renewed programs for marketing, audience development and artistic projects."

2010 Legacies Now and the province of B.C. encourage and support creative activities through programs like catalyst, which funds B.C. arts, culture and heritage organizations for projects building their artistic and administrative abilities. This year, 26 organizations in 11 B.C. communities will share more than $175,000 in catalyst funds.

"With the expert assistance from an independent consultant, we will be able to plan our future and secure the Pender Harbour Chamber Music Festival's ongoing sustainability while maintaining the high standards of performance that our audience has come to expect," added Pender Harbour Music Society board member Lise Aylmer.

2010 Legacies Now is a not-for-profit society working in partnership with community organizations, non-government organizations, the private sector and all levels of government to develop sustainable legacies in sport and recreation, physical activity, arts, literacy, accessibility and volunteerism. 2010 Legacies Now actively assists communities to discover and create inclusive social and economic opportunities leading up to, and beyond, the 2010 Winter Games.
