Visions of Home

What does home mean to you? Four walls? The open road and a steering wheel? A state of mind? The Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) is calling all artists to reflect on the meaning of home and submit original works of art for an exhibition and auction in support of Habitat for Humanity and our local public art gallery. The submission deadline is only a month away, Sept. 30, with artwork due on Oct. 14. The exhibition, from Oct. 20 to Nov. 6, will feature artwork in all mediums. All proceeds will be divided into thirds: for the artist, Habitat for Humanity, and GPAG. Art will be sold by silent auction throughout the exhibition, with a selection of works to be sold at a live auction ticketed event on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 5.

A similar fundraiser, held in 2011, raised over $14,000 for Habitat and the Gallery. The format for the 2016 exhibition has been adapted to recognize the huge demand placed on local artists for contributions to local fundraising. The Gallery would like to recognize and draw attention to the incredible generosity of local artists in supporting the work of non-profit groups in our community. See www.gpag.ca for details.

Noon deadline

Send your notice of arts events by Tuesday at noon for Friday’s newspaper to [email protected] or phone 604-886-4692. Please include a contact person’s phone number or email in your notice.
