Music from Europe this Sunday

One of Europe's most exciting young musical ensembles heads the playbill of the next Coast Recital Society concert at the Raven's Cry Theatre on Sunday, Nov. 7.

The Osiris Trio, based in Holland, embody "chamber music invariably performed in the most sublime way," to quote one Dutch music critic. The Trio consists of Ellen Corver, piano; Larissa Groeneveld, cello; and Peter Brunt, violin. Each player excels in a solo career and all teach at the Royal Academy of Music in The Hague. The Trio has toured extensively in Europe since their founding in 1988, and at present are touring Canada and the United States. They choose a wide-ranging repertoire from Haydn to contemporary works. They have made five recordings.

For their Sechelt concert, the Osiris Trio has chosen a program consisting of Ludwig van Beethoven's Trio in B flat, opus 11, Three Nocturnes by Ernest Bloch, a new work by Ron Ford and Antonin Dvorak's Trio in F minor, opus 65.

Some single tickets for the concert may still be available. If interested, contact Mary Lea Bell at 604-886-8330 or the Coast Recital Society at 604-885-0991.
