The Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival kicks off this weekend with five performances at Gibsons-area venues, and a bonus performance on July 1.

The volunteer-run community festival is presented by the Sunshine Coast Jazz and Entertainment Society, and has been organizing live musical entertainment since 1995.

On Friday, June 24, the Budge Schachte Trio will perform at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church. The group features guitarist Budge Schachte, Graham Ord on sax and flute, and Arista Hawkes on bass.

On Saturday, June 25, events move into high gear with free public performances at Winegarden Park of Kellough’s Krumbs, Ya Ya Shine, the Susanna Williams Quartet, and the Big Easy Funk Ensemble. A party and dance with music by the Big Easy Funk Ensemble takes place that evening at the 101 Brewhouse.

The festival culminates on Sunday, June 26 with a performance by the Jacquie Allan Quartet at the Gibsons Public Market, and a matinee show by the Peter Van Organ Trio at Tapworks Brewing.

As a special addendum to the weekend festival, the Brubeck Brothers Quartet will perform at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse on July 1.
