Attention Sunshine Coast choristers, choir directors and singing enthusiasts: Tom Kellough and Soundwaves Chorus invite you to be part of a project choir which will produce Handel's Messiah this Christmas.

Attention Sunshine Coast choristers, choir directors and singing enthusiasts: Tom Kellough and Soundwaves Chorus invite you to be part of a project choir which will produce Handel's Messiah this Christmas.

The choir will come together for four rehearsals to present Part One of Handel's Messiah on Dec. 17 and 18 at St. Hilda's church in Sechelt. All rehearsals will be at St. Hilda's as well. Partial proceeds from the concerts will go to the Sechelt food bank.

Joe Hatherill will prepare a small orchestral ensemble from the Roberts Creek orchestra. Soloists, to be sponsored by local businesses, are: Wendy Humphries, soprano; Shelley Dillon, mezzo-soprano; Brian Harbison, tenor; and Alec Tebbutt, bass.

The four rehearsals, all on Mondays, will be Nov. 22, Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. Attendance is required at all rehearsals.

There is no cost involved other than the commitment of time. However, it is imperative that you read from a Novello edition of the work. Copies can be ordered, at a cost of about $14, from Tapestry Music at 1-888-347-7480 or from Long & McQuade at 1-800-663-1351.

Soundwaves Chorus will form the core of this project choir and will begin rehearsing the work as part of their rehearsal repertoire in September. If you know that you will require more than four rehearsals to properly prepare yourself, you are welcome to join Soundwaves for the term of September to December; however, you will be required to pay choir fees.

If you are interested in being part of this exciting event, please call Sandra O'Brian at 604-885-5757. For more information, call Tom Kellough, director of Soundwaves Chorus, at 604-886-7389.
