Great choral music at CRS

The Vancouver Chamber Choir, one of Canada's finest choral ensembles, performs for the Coast Recital Society (CRS) this Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Raven's Cry Theatre in Sechelt. The concert begins at 2:30 p.m. with a pre-concert chat at 1:30 p.m.

The Vancouver Chamber Choir is known for the depth and range of repertoire and excellent interpretive skills.

"We look forward to welcoming this superb group back to the CRS," said CRS artistic director Frances Heinsheimer Wainwright.

"Their challenging and fascinating program has been carefully put together to highlight their outstanding gifts, and we know that this will be a special event for the many lovers of choral music on the Sunshine Coast."

The Vancouver Chamber Choir has been performing at home and across Canada since its formation in 1971 by conductor Jon Washburn. The ensemble has gained international distinction through tours to the U. S., China, Hong Kong, Finland, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

The 20 singers will perform a broad range of repertoire from the 17th through the 21st centuries, including music by Thomas Weelkes, Giovanni Gabrieli, John Taverner, Jon Washburn, R. Murray, Schaefer, Thomas Morley and J.S. Bach.
