Artist Gigi Hoeller and friend Plumb Bob are holding their annual art show and sale at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt this coming weekend, June 21 and 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Choir concert
The Pender Harbour Choir is performing their spring concert this Friday night at St. John’s Church in Davis Bay at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday, June 22, at the School of Music in Madeira Park at 2 p.m. The program will be Songs of the Silver Screen sung by the choir, soloists and ensembles. Tickets are $15 from choir members or Laedeli in Gibsons, Sechelt Visitor Centre or EarthFair Store in Madeira Park.
Jazz Festival
Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival fills the town with music. There’s lots of entertainment — on Saturday afternoon in the street and at St. Bart’s and on Sunday in Winegarden Park. See page 31 in this week’s paper or www.coastjazz.com for more details.
Studio opening
Ruth Rodgers, a visual artist new to the Sunshine Coast, will open her new studio gallery at her home at 5472 Hydaway Place in Halfmoon Bay, Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. both days. Poetry reading
Philip Kevin Paul will read this Saturday, June 21, at 7 p.m. at Gibsons Public Art Gallery. He is a member of the wsá,nec Nation from the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island. His work has been published in BC Studies, Literary Review of Canada, Breathing Fire: Canada’s New Poets and An Anthology of Canadian Native Literature in English.
Paul’s second book of poetry, Little Hunger, was short-listed for a 2009 Governor General’s Literary Award. This reading is sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts and is free to the public. Donations are welcome and are split between the society and the art gallery. Books and refreshments will be for sale.
House concert
The cowboy singer/fiddler/mandolinist/guitarist Skip Gorman performs at a house concert in Gibsons this Sunday, June 22 at 7 p.m.

Pride film
Tru Love, a bittersweet love story about three women whose hearts crack open, will be the featured film presented by Queer Projections at this year’s Sunshine Coast Pride Weekend. The award-winning Canadian film is on Friday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. at Gibsons Heritage Playhouse.
