Explore the creative side of the community of Gibsons Landing fromAug. 9 to 12 at the Gibsons Landing Art Stroll.
Park your car and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the various venues offering up exhibitions, art activities, creative cuisine, music and artist demos.
This year, there are 13 venues featuring artistic exhibitions, many of them featuring work that will be on display only during this event.
Many of these participants took part last year including the Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG), Sa Boothroyd Gallery, Westwind Gallery, The Waltzing Whippet, Daffadowndilly Gallery, the Blackberry Shop, Gypsy Cove and the Landing Gallery. Joining the stroll this year is the Market in Molly's Lane, the Gibsons Landing Trading Post, Bodacious Lifestyles, Peggy Sue's and the Gibsons and District Public Library. Along with showcasing a variety of art works and uniquely creative wares, artists will be on hand at many of these locations to chat with visiting "strollers." Hours of operation vary for each venue so be sure to check out the brochure to plan your self-guided tour.
It will also be the only opportunity to see the future home of the GPAG, the former BMO location ay 431 Marine Dr., a work in progress as the building is prepared for its first exhibition in November.
Everyone is invited to preview the new space during the Art Stroll reception on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. Join in the celebrations and enjoy refreshments provided by Gibsons Landing businesses and gallery volunteers. You'll also have the opportunity to preview the draw prizes provided courtesy of local artist Walter Smith, Sushi Bar Nagomi and the Gibsons Landing Trading Post. To enter, fill out a ballot at GPAG during the Art Stroll.
Complementary activities will also be available to Art Stroll in the Landing visitors. GPAG will be featuring opportunities to meet several of the artists featured in the current exhibition Homecoming curated by Paul Clancy. The library will host several art activity events in their Mainil Room. Musical entertainment can be found at various locations including the popular weekend entertainment of Music in the Landing. The Sunday Market will feature local flavours of all kinds -artistic, culinary and so much more.
