Nutcracker update
An enthusiastic group of theatre supporters turned out at the first information meeting last week regarding the new annual production of the full-length Nutcracker to be presentednext Christmas.
The meeting was conducted by the artistic directors David and Kathy Holmes and hosted by the management of the Heritage Playhouse. Participants had an opportunity to view a miniature mock-up of the specially designed scenery and learn about the production. David made it clear, having done this many times before, that to create this venture in a population the size of the Sunshine Coast will require thinking out of the box.
During the two-hour meeting there were great ideas put forth by the attendees on how to integrate successful concepts from other community productions. It appears that with some creative input, there will be a first class production of the Nutcracker here. After all, someone joked, the Nutcracker is, in fact, the second greatest Christmas story told.
