Faces of the Coast is a group of individuals and organizations coming togethertotakeaction and raise awareness about discrimination and hate on the Sunshine Coast.
On March 10 at the Heritage Play House in Gibsons and March 17 at the Sechelt Indian Band Hall, the group is hosting a Diversity Film Festival.
The festival will show a diverse mix of mostly local short films, including Defining Diversity, Creating Community, a Powell River film made by Tony Papa, and Friendship Songs & Dreams, a film by youth of the Sechelt Nation. Doors will open at 6:45 and the festival will start at 7 p.m. both nights. The evenings will end after a short dialogue about community diversity at 9:30 p.m.
At the festival, Faces of the Coast will launch three postcards. The postcards represent three stories about experiences of inclusion from people living on the Coast. The complete stories can be found on the District of Sechelt website (www.district.sechelt.bc.ca), one of the project sponsors. The postcards will be distributed for free along the Coast.
