Because of the generosity of the event sponsorIndustrial - Alliance Pacific and local sponsorJohn McKenzie, everyone attending the Oct. 23 Habitat Harvest Dinner at the Botanical Garden Pavilion can be assured that every dollar contributed through ticket sales, silent auction and raffle purchases will go directly toward building homes at the Sunshine Coast Village project in Wilson Creek.

As many on the Coast already know, the Sunshine Coast Habitat affiliate has taken on a plan which moves the community towards the Habitat vision of "a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live."

Seven duplex units will be built over the coming seven years, housing 14 families. What many may not know is the cost in real dollars needed to meet the standards laid out by local and provincial authorities to make the Village a part of the community of which all will be proud. Some of the infrastructure costs would take your breath away, thus the need for inviting the community to a night of feasting, entertainment and opportunity.

The feasting is in the experienced and capable hands of Chasters catering service of Bonniebrook Lodge in Gibsons who will offer a menu on the harvest theme. Before dining, the evening will begin with a complimentary champagne cocktail designed to express Habitat's gratitude and/or enliven your spending habits. Entertainment will be supplied by the Joe Stanton Trio and by everyone's participation in the silent auction and the competition for a variety of raffle items. Supporters will also have the opportunity to "Donate a Door" to be installed in one of the duplex units currently under construction.

The highlight of the evening is the draw, under the direction of Habitat board chair Rick Harmer, for a very generous grand prize contributed by Delta Whistler Resort, Scandinave Spa and Whistler Blackcomb.

The suggestion to "wear your best jeans" means the evening is casual; jeans are not mandatory.

There are still a few tickets available that can be had by calling Doreen at 604-885-1945.
