The final performance of the season for the Pender Harbour Music Society will feature Christie Reside and Terence Dawson this Sunday at 2 p.m.
Reside and Dawson formed their duo in 2005 after recognizing their shared interest in chamber music and a desire to expand the offerings of the traditional duo recital. Both seasoned solo performers, they lead active performing and teaching careers.
Reside began her career at the age of 19 as second flute with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. She received her formal training with Timothy Hutchins at McGill University in Montreal.
Reside is currently principal flute of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, a position she has held since 2004.
Dawson began his formal studies in Eastern Canada with Lynn Johnson, Jamie Syer and Janet Hammock and continued graduate work at the University of British Columbia with Jane Coop.
He holds a doctorate in piano performance from UBC where he is head of the keyboard division, and teaches piano, chamber music and collaborative studies. Together, their recital appearances highlight a remarkable onstage rapport, and their interpretations of repertoire are delightfully colourful and technically assured.
Tickets for the concert at the Music School in Madeira Park are $20, available at Harbour Insurance, John Henry's Marina, the Sechelt Visitor Information Centre and Gaia's Fair Trade in Gibsons Landing.
