The Coast Recital Society (CRS) invites Sunshine Coast classical music students to submit applications for the annual CRS scholarships. CRS scholarships are open to local music students 25 years or younger. Students at all levels of study are encouraged to apply.
Application forms are available from the CRS office or can be downloaded from the CRS website at www.coastrecitalsociety.ca. Applicants will be expected to perform at least two classical works from the Baroque Era, Classical Era, Romantic Era or Post Romantic - Contemporary, with a total length of 10 minutes or less. Live auditions will be held on March 3 and 4, at St. Hilda's Church in Sechelt.
The CRS has awarded scholarships to Sunshine Coast music students since 1998. Past CRS scholarship winners have used their awards to pay for such expenses as music lessons, sheet music, instruments and tuition for post-secondary music studies. The CRS scholarship program is an important component of the society's educational activities. In addition to scholarships, the society sponsors master classes and brings classical musicians to local elementary and secondary schools, through its Artists in the Community program. The society also makes discounted student tickets available for all concerts in the CRS subscription concert series.
Application deadline is Feb. 15. Applications can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to the Coast Recital Society, PO Box 1010, Sechelt, BC, V0N 3A0. For more information, call 604-885-0991.
