Imagine a presentation that combines theCreek Big Band andDefinitely Diva, or one with dance artist,Sylvain Brochuperforming with piano/rocker,Nir Blu, orGaetan Bergevindelivering world music pieces whileMardi Ahmedpaints live onstage.
The outcome is brilliant, entertaining, and perfectly unexpected.
"Artist collaboration is a major theme of the Sechelt Festival of the Arts," said festival producer Nancy Cottingham Powell. "It is very exciting to bring together an array of local artists from different disciplines and genres to collaborate, to inspire each other, to create, and to ultimately perform something quite exceptional."
During the festival's week of programming, two main stage showcases will be presented at the Raven's Cry Theatre: Art and Environmenton Friday, Oct. 21 andTapestryon Saturday, Oct. 22. Each evening will feature three collaborative performances delicately woven together through music, poetry, dance, theatre, and visual art.
Tickets for these events are $20 for adults and $12 for seniors and students, available at Gaia Fair Trade, Strait Music, MELOmania, or at the door on the night of the event (based on availability).
The Sechelt Festival of the Arts will also present adiverse range offree events including art and music workshops, an emerging artist showcase, classical music performances, family entertainment, a juried arts exhibit, a new music kitchen party and art-in-the-atreets.
