Do-Re-TEA is a refreshing series of afternoon concerts, which will be held on the last Friday of April, May and June at Living Faith Lutheran Church in Davis Bay at 3 p.m. After the concert, ticket holders will be treated to an afternoon cream tea with homemade scones and strawberry jam, a joint effort with the Phillip & I Bed and Breakfast.

In the first concert on April 26 you can experience a feast for your soul with the unique duo, Golden Echo. World-class professionals Valerie-Anne Rutter and Richard Austin bring nourishment and inspiration to their audience with an eclectic banquet of sounds from piano and recorder paired with spoken word. You will savour poetry and music ranging from Bach to the Beatles, from Shakespeare to Bob Dylan. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts in this original blend.

Austin trained as an actor in London, England, and worked professionally for more than 10 years on stage and in television. He appeared in the Driftwood Players production of The Drawer Boy as Morgan. Austin specializes in performing the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins and travels internationally to perform at Hopkins conferences.

His CD of Hopkins' verses has been well received. He also writes poetry and prose and often performs his own compositions.

Rutter has enjoyed an extensive performing career in Europe and North America appearing as soloist with several orchestras, including the English String Orchestra. She made her London debut at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, has given 20 world premieres and collaborated in many master classes with great artists including Jaqueline du Pré.

She has given recitals in countless concert series and major music festivals, recorded for Nimbus, commissioned many new works and broadcast on radio and television. In Canada she is often heard on CBC radio in her duo, Gemini, with her identical twin sister, Julie.

Tickets that include the tea are $20, available at Laedeli in Sunnycrest Mall in Gibsons, the Sechelt Visitor Centre, Bluewaters Books in Madeira Park, at the door or reserve with Lisa by calling 604-741-9943.
