Nir Blu and Jess Hart are playing Saturday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse to raise funds for the theatre.

Blu's shows allow you to get a glimpse into his world of music, and next Saturday he and singer songwriter Hart will be splitting the bill.

Hart is one of the Coast's newest folk sweethearts. Both artists moved to the Coast in November 2010.

Born in Haifa, Israel and based on the Sunshine Coast, Blu is known for his unique piano playing and passionate vocals. Genre-transcending, his music blends styles, combining jazz, blues, rock, world and classical into melodically infectious songs. His innovative shows, sometimes include projecting his own 3D graphic art and experimenting with electronic programming.

Blu's performances include the Mont-real Fringe Festival, Folk Festival on the Canal, ArtsWells Festival, Okanagan International Film Festival Gala, Lieutenant Governor's BC Book Prize Gala, Sechelt Festival of the Arts, The Peace Song Circle on Parliament Hill, SOPA Festival of the Performing Arts and the Synchronicity Festival.

Hart is an accomplished singer/songwriter who is appreciated for her refreshing combination of thoughtful lyrics and unique vocal and musical style. A blend of folk and grunge influences can be noted in her acoustic rock compositions which feature themes that vary from media concentration and isolation to the exploration of contemporary ideologies regarding corporate ownership, consumer culture and their implications on society.

Straying from the typical female singer/songwriter love ballad, Hart views music as a vehicle for change. Hart delved into the music scene in 2005, performing at several highly esteemed singer/songwriter venues.

Throughout 2010 Hart toured through the Cariboo, Kootenays and Vancouver Island, performing regularly in Vancouver before relocating to the Sunshine Coast in 2011. She is currently beginning production on her second album to be recorded on the Coast in 2012.

Tickets for the show are $15, available at Laedeli in the Sunnycrest Mall or by phoning the Heritage Playhouse at 604-886-8998.
