The 36-voice choir will perform, along with soloists, instrumentalists and small ensembles. The choir is presenting their spring program at both local schools the week before their two concerts. The evening at the Botanical Gardens in Sechelt starts early this Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m. in order for guests to enjoy the lovely gardens and light refreshments with the choir before the show.

Both this and the Sunday, May 31 concert at the School of Music in Madeira Park at 2 p.m. involve a raffle of quality items and experiences, as a fundraiser for the choir’s new costume items, scarves and ties. Outlooks show

Outlooks on a Landscape, showing from June 3 to July 5, is an exhibition at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre pairing the work of mother and son artists, Ursula Medley and Peter Gynd. With each working primarily within the genre of landscape painting, the artists’ individual works present a practice unique to their own convictions, yet anchored within an exploration of the Canadian landscape. Medley brings her subject under the microscope, focusing on the garden as landscape. Gynd’s practice approaches the landscape much as a conceptual question or ideal notion, an exploration of landscape as identity.

Join them for the opening reception at the Doris Crowston Gallery, in the Arts Centre, Wednesday, June 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. with an artist talk by Peter Gynd starting at 7:30 p.m.  The Arts Centre is located at the corner of Trail and Medusa in Sechelt.
