On Thursday, July 23 some of the Coast's finest names in music will gather at the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons to celebrate its latest arrival, the Knabe concert grand piano.
Pianist Mark Andrews and musician Elizabeth Loewen, both visiting their home base of Gibsons, will be performing, as will Ken Dalgleish, Erin Macdonald, the Gemini duo and Nicholas Simons. Joe Hatherill, returned from his world travels, will also be on stage along with a few other musical guests. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and admission is by donation.
This weekend
Music in the Landing features the a cappella group Sokole at the gazebo on the wharf Friday at 7 p.m. followed by Keia Papa Kaua at 7:30 with traditional Hawaiian hula led by Dhyana Bartkow and dancers.
Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Coast String Fiddlers will entertain at the info centre, then from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., young musician Westerly Henry will present his solo keyboard talents in front of the Pink House. On Saturday evening bring your lawn chairs and blankets to Winegarden Waterfront Park to enjoy McGillicuddy, the Coast's newest vibrant musical collaboration with Cam Keating on pipes and pennywhistle, Mick Bryant, guitar, vocals, mandolin and Diana Halter on harp(s), bodhran and voice. Sunday, next to the Gibsons Sunday Market on the Sundial Stage from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., join Stramash. The following weekend Music in the Landing takes a break for Sea Cavalcade and will return July 31 including a show on B.C. Day, Aug 3.
Linwood Art
The third annual Linwood fundraising Art Experience is set for Sunday, July 19 from 1 to 5 p.m. at 3144 Linwood Road in Roberts Creek. Artists Ed Hill, Todd Clark, Brian Romer, Yzabelle Delisle-Milton, Donna Stewart and Douglas Rae will show their work.
Tulips
Artist Cornelia van Berkel has hung her tulip series of paintings in Starbucks, Sechelt, for the month of July. These are oversize versions of single and multiple tulips printed on canvas in various sizes. Take a look.

New Moon
The New Moon Festival Society is holding a Japanese dance workshop on Saturday, July 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Kinsman Hall in Dougall Park.
