The 13th annual Pender Harbour Blues Festival June 3 to 5 made a successful move to the Legion hall in Madeira Park that allowed them to host more audience and sell more tickets than before.
“Every show was sold out,” said Blues Fest organizer and Pender Harbour Blues Society president Marilyn MacLeod, “except for Sunday evening. Some of the Voodoo Allstars were playing on Sunday and we had a party there on Sunday night.”
Many people from off-Coast made the trip – some extended their vacation stay in the Harbour just to attend. David Gogo was a big hit – he performed on Friday night and again for a set on Saturday.
“There were record crowds on Saturday,” MacLeod said. “It was hot and we were hugging the trees for shade.”
The ever-popular Jim Byrnes performed at the evening show and at Sunday morning’s gospel concert.
The festival is produced by the Pender Harbour Blues Society, a non-profit organization that aims to preserve, nurture and promote B.C.’s blues in all its forms. See www.penderharbourbluesfestival.com for more.
