Book sale to boost Writers' Forge bursary fund

Two years ago, the Suncoast Writers' Forge made a generous gesture. During their 20 years of existence, the organization that helped found the Festival of the Written Arts had also helped many new and experienced writers with their projects. Before closing their doors forever, the Forge donated the remaining funds in their coffers to the Sunshine Coast School of Writing to be used for bursaries. The money was earmarked solely to help those Coast residents and committed writers who couldn't afford to take the workshops but passionately wanted to write. Keeping that bursary fund alive is critical. You can help by donating or buying books. The Sunshine Coast School of Writing is looking for donations for a major sale of used and new books on Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons. All funds raised from the sale will go towards the Forge Bursary Fund. If you can donate books, give Ellen Frank a call. Her email address is: [email protected], or phone her at 604-886-4651 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Drop off locations for books are available in Sechelt at Moose on the Loose, 5531 Wharf Avenue, behind Galiano Market, and in Gibsons at Gibsons Chiropractic, #2 - 721 Winn Road.
