Music Makers presents their Big Night Out at the Sechelt Legion Hall on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. It features fabulous entertainment from the Music Makers Adult Choir, soloists, Guitar Gang, String Fever, Reg, Lynne and Warren and In Good Company. Rock and pub show
Tonight, Friday, the East Van Yacht Club will be playing mostly rock with a bit of reggae at the Gibsons Legion starting at 8 p.m. There's no cover and members and guests are welcome. Dinner is served from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday the Gibsons Legion hosts a British Pub Show featuring Linda Jones from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be available starting at noon. There is no cover, but they are asking for donations of non-perishable food items for the St. Bart's Food Bank. This entertainer puts on a great show singing old favourites with some comedy.

Dynamic presenter
Author Ben Nuttall-Smith is giving two workshops at the Sechelt Public Library on Saturday. The first one is entitled The Dynamic Presenter and is a two-hour voice and performance skills workshop for writers, poets and public speakers. He will present basic elements of posture and diaphragm control to teach you to relax and project your voice. Also, you can bring a short prose piece or poem for some hands-on, out-loud reading. It runs from noon to 2 p.m.
The second workshop is called The Art of Words - from Scribbles to Publication. Nuttall-Smith is the author of Blood, Feathers and Holy Men and a memoir, Secrets Kept/ Secrets Told. It runs from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Workshops are free, but you must pre-register by phoning 604-885-3260.
Fibreworks
Fibreworks Studio and Gallery will host visiting artists James Powell and Kerrie Anne Riles at a meet the artists opening reception on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. The artists' exhibition, Indaba, continues to June 10 at the yurts. Aboriginal cultural
A special event hosted by students of the Capilano University's Aboriginal cultural tourism program takes place to mark the completion of the very first Aboriginal cultural tourism program.
The community is invited to celebrate on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Sechelt Indian Band Hall. Sample shíshálh culture and experience traditions preserved and passed down from the elders.

Jude LeMoine has just published a book entitled The Puppy Nanny's Guide to Training Your Puppy and will be holding a signing at Quality Garden and Pet Store in Gibsons on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. All are invited.
Winner
To her surprise, local artist Donna Swain-McKeever's abstract painting Disclosure won firstprize in the Federation of Canadian Artists' show Canvas Unbound. Show is on until May 13 at the FCA Granville Island Gallery.
Author signing
Join B.C. bestselling author Diana Phillips as she signs copies of her book Beyond the Home Ranch (Harbour Publishing, $34.95) in Sechelt and Madeira Park. She will appear at Talewind Books at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, and at Bluewaters Books at 4 p.m. later that afternoon. Admission for both events is free.
Artist in our Midst
Artist Francine Des-jardins is participating in the 20th Annual Artists in Our Midst in Vancouver.
