Arts and crafts on display this weekend

Hackett Park
Hackett Park Craft Fair
Sunshine Coast artists Bev and Ray Niebergall of Mustard Seed Clay Creations showed their pottery at the Hackett Park Craft Fair last year, organized by the Sunshine Coast Arts council as their major annual fundraising event.

Once again artists and artisans from across the province offer up a tantalizing array of one-of-a-kind arts and crafts.

This year’s Hackett Park Arts and Craft Fair runs this Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Hackett Park on Trail Avenue between Medusa and Dolphin streets in Sechelt.

The fair is one of the largest juried arts and crafts fairs in the province and it is the perfect opportunity for collectors and shoppers alike to find beautiful and unique handcrafted items.

Bring the entire family and make a day of it.

Musical acts Knotty Dotters, Anagram, Joe Stanton and many others entertain over the two-day festival, interspersed with the Driftwood Players’ story theatre and Gerardo Avita’s magic act.

Children can get their faces painted by Tracey Lloyd, and everyone can sample the mouth-watering food choices from fresh salmon and prawns to gourmet hot dogs and vegetarian delights.

The Hackett Park Arts and Crafts Fair is a fundraiser for the Sunshine Coast Arts Council, which has been serving the community in support of the arts since 1966.  Admission is by suggested donation of $3 for adults, $2 for seniors, and children under 12 accompanied by an adult get in for free.
