The Town of Gibsons is recruiting local artists who will create installations for a public “art path” that will connect Upper and Lower Gibsons.
According to the official call for submissions, artworks can include “trail markers, trailside shrines and sculptures, urban street art, forest creations with natural elements, or something unexpected and totally original.”
The initiative will emphasize artists who live on the Sunshine Coast (including qathet/Powell River), or who have historical ties to the region. Indigenous artists are urged to apply.
The project was made possible through a grant from the Island Coastal Economic Trust. In a news release announcing the project, Gibsons Mayor Bill Beamish said, “We are very grateful for this grant and look forward to commissioning new works which will spark creative interest and grow civic pride.”

The submission deadline is Feb. 28.
