Free brochure-maps are available now across the Sunshine Coast for the 2020 Art Crawl, set to go on the weekend of Oct. 23-25, with health-safety protocols in place. A total of 97 venues will be part of the 11th annual event, a meeting of artists was told on Sept. 23 by Linda Williams, of the Coast Cultural Alliance. The count is down by about half from 2019, the Crawl’s biggest year ever, largely because venues open for drop-in – with limited numbers of visitors at a time – must now be separate from living quarters and have their own entrance. Venues also have an option of being virtual-only, and about a dozen have opted for that, Williams said. A few others will be open for viewing by appointment only.
For Those Who Stay
Halfmoon Bay author and artist Ruth Rodgers has just published For Those Who Stay, a sequel to her first historical fiction novel, For Those Who Wander, set in the early 20th century on the Sunshine Coast. Rodgers will host a virtual launch of the book on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. on Zoom. The online event will include a slide show, reading, and a follow-up chat. If you’d like to join in, contact the author at [email protected].
