The art auction to raise funds for Syrian refugee families at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery was jammed on Saturday, the day of the live auction, and crowded on Sunday for the silent auction.

Silent bidding wars developed that set the bids escalating for artwork donated by many local artists.

In all, the auction achieved their goal of $15,000 and the final figure raised, after expenses, was $17,750.

Bodhi Drope, organizer of the event, said: “I had a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers assisting to pull it off in such a short time span.” He also praised the work of auctioneer Ed Hill in raising $8,000 at the live auction.
