Mark Leiren-Young (winner of the 2009 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour) and TJ Dawe (the Lord of the Fringe) team up for the first time to create an all-new show about the problems Kermit never dreamed of when he sang about the challenges of being green.

It's an eco-comedy double header at the Heritage Playhouse as Leiren-Young previews his all new comedy show, Greener Than Thou, before teaming up with long-time comedy partner and long-time Gibsons resident, musician-actor-director Kevin Crofton, for the launch of Greenpieces, a collection of eco-comedy songs and sketches. The comedy double header is Aug. 5 and 6 at 8 p.m.

In the fall of 1997, Leiren-Young set out to make "the quintessential B.C. movie" The Green Chain, and with the help of Gibsons Jay Dodge and Sheri Yoon, the filming began 20 metres up a tree in Elphinstone. The next year, after The Green Chain's successful debut (the film won a top prize in Barcelona and was a finalist for best screenplay in the Writer's Guild of Canada awards), he moved to Elphinstone. He couldn't think of a better place to preview his first ever solo show before the official premiere at the Edmonton Fringe Festival.

Crofton is a local actor and music performer and the other half of the award-winning satirical duo Local Anxiety. He has lived on the Sunshine Coast for 15 years and has had lead roles in the Driftwood Theatre productions Harvey and Cash on Delivery as well as numerous acting roles in film, TV and commercials. He also directed the popular youth theatre productions Fame and Grease.

Dawe is an award-winning (and published) writer/performer/director, whose solo credits include Totem Figures, The Slipknot and Tired Clichés. His latest show, Lucky 9, is currently drawing rave reviews on the Canadian Fringe Festival circuit.

Tickets will be available at the door and at Laedeli, Gaia's Fair Trade, MELOmania and the Sechelt Visitor's Centre.
