A whimsical ball on New Year’s Eve

Muse & Rapture
new year
From Copenhagen, Denmark, Be Svendsen brings his very danceable and eclectic mixed bag of musical tricks.

What are you doing this New Year’s Eve? If you’re hoping for a fantastic night of dancing fun and entertainment, then check out Muse & Rapture.

The Society for the Preservation of Arts, Culture and Environment (SPACE) and Gibsons Jennifer Kesic have teamed up to host this year’s circus-themed event at the Roberts Creek Hall.

The New Year’s Eve party, set for 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., will feature music and entertainment, food and drink, with the bulk of proceeds going towards music and dance bursaries for children in the community.

The rest of the proceeds will be put into a community garden project in Upper Gibsons.

Kicking off the night will be Michael Fraser of Vancouver, who just finished his second European tour. Sure to ignite the dance floor, he incorporates exciting live violin playing on top of his wild and fun DJ set. See more at www.michaelfraserviolin.com.

Up next is Be Svendsen performing live music.

From Copenhagen, Denmark, Muse & Rapture invited Svendsen here to share his very danceable and eclectic mixed bag of tricks.

“Come with an open mind and we’ll take it from there,” he said. “For dance music, I feel a sound should have something that gets me going emotionally,” he explains. “I am also inspired by all kinds of folk music. It has a nerve and a sense of deep honesty that I admire. I strive to create and communicate a story and an atmosphere so that people can dive in and be a part of it.  I like a crowd to be open and curious.”

And come gather round for an amusing performance from Chris Myrdock, a well-known character in Vancouver’s thriving circus community. He will also be introducing some local acts sure to please.

This is a 19-plus event with ID. Tickets are $45, available by pre-sale only from Gaia’s Fair Trade in Gibsons, MELOmania in Roberts Creek and The Oracle in Sechelt.
