Gibsons Rock'n Art Gallery proudly announces Sunshine Coast's premier Sculpture Walk at 127 Clark Rd.

Visitors can admire big stone sculptures in landscaped settings while learning about artists' lives from around the world. Resident sculptor Don Watson and his sport and art event organizer and partner Birgit Breuer opened the show to the excited public during the annual Sunshine Coast Art Crawl in October. Hundreds of people enjoyed the expansive outdoor art display and asked for an ongoing exhibit.

Schedule a tour at 604-886-6591 or visit www.rocknartgallery.blogspot.com to take a glimpse at the variety of stone works.

Watson will also offer another popular stone sculpting workshop for adult beginners and intermediates this weekend Nov. 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants will learn how to design, draw and then carve their own piece out of soft soapstone. The gallery will supply materials and carving tools.

Watson has enjoyed a great variety of public, corporate and private art commissions. Local kids enjoy his giant animated fibreglass snail at the educational playground in Gibsons Shirley Macey Park, a playful version of his otherwise very technical fibreglass work at his local boat repair business, Viva Yachts.

In the summer of 2012, Rock'n Art hosted two master carvers from Zimbabwe who taught a memorable sculpting camp to local children. Some of their pieces can be admired at the indoor and outdoor exhibit.

To reserve a spot for the workshop, email [email protected]. Space is limited.
