For a night of hot and spicy New Orleans rockin' roots and blues, come to the annual January fundraising dance for the Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival.

For a night of hot and spicy New Orleans rockin' roots and blues, come to the annual January fundraising dance for the Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival.

This year, organizers are featuring Gary Comeau and the Voodoo Allstars at the Roberts Creek Hall on Jan. 22 with doors at 9 p.m.

Take the rhythm of the Maritime Acadian music, season well with Louisiana zydeco blues, add a twist of Dylan in the Highway 61 era, serve it up with great showmanship, and you've got a potent musical cocktail that will have your head spinning and your feet dancing.

Playing a range of instruments including guitar, mandolin and fiddle, Comeau delivers originally-crafted, high-energy, Cajun-style rockin' roots and blues. Although Comeau's roots are French-Acadian, he was born and raised in Nova Scotia, and his soul seems to have taken a long and inspiring detour through Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta.

It's time to stomp your feet and warm your soul.

Tickets are $17 ($15 for SC Jazz Society members) and must be purchased in advance from Coast Books in Gibsons, Talewind Books in Sechelt and the Roberts Creek Health Food Store. Get your tickets early as this one usually is a sell out. For more information call 604-740-5825 or www.coastjazz.com.
