The Coast Jazz Quintet, founded by violinist/trumpet player Blaine Dunaway, was created in 2006 in a meeting of like minds, all sharing a love for improvisation and jazz.

The group plays the Pender Harbour Music Society's School of Music on June 21 at 8 p.m.

Incorporating the harmonic intricacy of Bill Evans' andvarious funk, Latin and swing grooves, the bandblends original compositions and a repertoire of tunes by jazz greats such as Chick Corea, Evans and Jaco Pastorius. With internationally recognized musicians like Dunaway on violin and trumpet, Graham Ord on sax and flute, John Toulson on basses, Anna Lumiere on piano and Jim McGillveray on drums, this band is sure to keep your feet tapping while taking you on an improvisational journey of no return.
