Youth Outreach workers and Ministry of Child and Family Development staff support B.C. Child and Youth In Care Week June 6 by attending a barbecue in Sechelt. The week, proclaimed for June 4 to 10, was advocated for by young people in and from care. It is an opportunity to celebrate their diverse talents, accomplishments, and resiliency, and show them that there is a community that supports and stands with them. As well as hosting the barbecue in Sechelt, ministry staff distributed Freezies in Gibsons and pizzas and banana splits at the Pender Harbour, Sechelt and Gibsons youth centres. The event was possible due to the support from the ministry, Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Community Services and Youth Outreach.
